Milia and molluscum treatment in Montpellier

What does the treatment involve?
A grain of milium is a small cyst of keratin, often white. Molluscum contagiosum is a viral lesion, sometimes with a small central hollow. They may look alike but do not always treat each other in the same way; the Plexr is not the only method possible.
Who is this treatment for?
Persons with one or more lesions identified by the doctor, regardless of age of the skin. For molluscums, age, location, immunity and the possibility of spontaneous disappearance guide the decision. The care of children is decided separately.
How's the session going?
- The doctor examines the lesions and confirms their nature. An atypical injury may require another examination rather than destruction.
- For a milium, small-open extraction may be proposed; for other lesions, an appropriate method is chosen, including possibly plasma.
- The treatment is located. The instructions avoid irritation and contamination of neighbouring areas, especially in the case of molluscum.
How long do you expect?
A few minutes for a lesion to a longer appointment if they are numerous; the method and anesthesia modify the duration.
Is it painful?
Pinching for extraction; heat or sting with local destruction. Anesthesia may be required depending on the procedure and location.
What is recovery like, and is there any downtime?
An extraction often leaves a small temporary mark. Destructive treatment can form visible crusts several days; usually take about a week for localized plasma.
When will I see results?
After healing, the removed lesions are reassessed. For a molluscum, other lesions may appear and require monitoring.
How long do the effects last?
A removed milium may disappear for a long time, but new grains can form. Molluscums follow a viral evolution and are not limited to the duration of an aesthetic result.
Before and after your appointment
Don't pierce the lesions yourself. Avoid scratching and shaving on molluscums; do not share towels. Respect the prescribed local care.
Precautions to be considered
Pigmentation, scarring and infection are possible. The proximity of the eye requires a suitable technique and sometimes a specialized opinion.
