What does the treatment involve?
Medical genioplasty uses hyaluronic acid gel to modify the relief of the chin. It can improve a slightly receding chin or some asymmetries, taking into account the profile and the lovale.
Who is this treatment for?
Adults with limited projection or contour demand. If the offset is for jaws, dental occlusion or skeleton, the injections do not replace a dental or maxillofacial evaluation.
How's the session going?
- The doctor examines the chin at rest, in profile and during movements, as well as the fold between the lip and chin.
- The gel is placed in the selected projection or contour points after disinfection.
- The bottom balance of the face is controlled face and profile. Re-evaluation is done after decreasing swelling.
How long do you expect?
About 20 to 30 minutes for chin alone.
Is it painful?
Sensation of sting and pressure, sometimes a tension of the chin after the procedure. The area may remain sensitive to touch for a few days.
What is recovery like, and is there any downtime?
Usual recovery fast. Swelling and possible blue; chin may seem more projected during the first days.
When will I see results?
The change is immediate. Wait about 2 weeks to judge the outline.
How long do the effects last?
Often around a year, sometimes more depending on the gel and tissues. The need for maintenance is decided upon at the examination.
Before and after your appointment
Avoid massages, pressures and shocks on the chin at first. Tell the doctor about chin surgery or an existing implant.
Precautions to be considered
Irregularity, asymmetry or overcorrection may occur. Pain that increases or abnormal skin coloration after injection requires immediate notice.
