Excessive underarm sweating in Montpellier
Reduce excessive sweating of armpits when local measures are not enough.
The times below are general estimates. The length of your appointment and your recovery instructions depend on the treatment area and the protocol selected.
What does the treatment involve?
Botulinum toxin acts temporarily on the nerve signal that stimulates the sweat glands of the injected area. The treatment here concerns the armpits; it does not block the perspiration of the whole body.
Who is this treatment for?
Adults hindered daily by persistent axillary hypersudation despite suitable anti-transspirants. A new, generalized or nocturnal perspiration requires first to seek a medical cause. Care does not depend on the skin age.
How's the session going?
- The doctor checks the symptoms and treatments tested. The sweat zone can be detected by local testing.
- After disinfection, a series of small superficial injections are made in each armpit.
- Evolution is controlled after installation of effect; the need for renewal depends on the return of discomfort.
How long do you expect?
Approximately 20 to 30 minutes for both armpits, depending on the location required.
Is it painful?
Several superficial bites, sometimes with a short burning sensation. Surface anesthesia can be discussed if you are sensitive.
What is recovery like, and is there any downtime?
Usual recovery fast. Red dots, sensibility or small bruises are possible; the marks are located under the arms.
When will I see results?
Perspiration generally decreases during the first week. The effect is judged around 2 weeks.
How long do the effects last?
Often 4 to 6 months; some people notice a longer effect. A new session is discussed when the embarrassment comes back.
Before and after your appointment
Avoid coming with skin irritated by shaving. The cabinet specifies when to resume deodorant, shaving and sport depending on the state of the skin.
Precautions to be considered
An axil infection should be treated prior to injections. Tell the doctor about your neuromuscular diseases and any recent treatment with botulinum toxin.
