Expression lines and botulinum toxin in Montpellier

What does the treatment involve?
Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the contraction of specific muscles. It is mainly used for visible wrinkles when frowning, raising the forehead or smiling. It does not add volume.
Who is this treatment for?
Adults whose wrinkles are related to expressions. On mature skin, a fold even at rest may remain partially visible and require further treatment. The type of wrinkle and the position of the eyebrows count more than age alone.
How's the session going?
- The doctor observes the expressions and identifies the muscles to be treated, taking into account natural asymmetries.
- The skin is cleaned, then small amounts are injected with a thin needle in several points.
- You're leaving with instructions. A check may be proposed after the effect has been installed to assess the balance of the result.
How long do you expect?
Approximately 10 to 20 minutes for injections; provide additional time for medical exchange.
Is it painful?
Short, usually well-supported pikûres. Eye contours may be more sensitive. Anesthesia is usually not necessary.
What is recovery like, and is there any downtime?
Resumption of usual activities on the same day. Small bumps quickly fade; a blue can remain visible for several days.
When will I see results?
The effect usually starts after a few days, often between 3 and 7 days. The evaluation is done around 2 weeks, without judging the result on the evening of the session.
How long do the effects last?
Most often 3 to 4 months, with a gradual resumption of movements. The interval between two sessions respects the medication used and the prescription.
Before and after your appointment
Do not rub the injected areas. Follow the instructions given for sport, facial care and warmth. Inform the doctor of toxin injections already made elsewhere.
Precautions to be considered
Eyebrow decrease, eyelid fall or asymmetry may occur. Neuromuscular disease and some medicines modify the indication. Difficulties in swallowing or breathing after injection require urgent medical assistance.
