Eyelid xanthelasma in Montpellier
Support the yellow plates of the eyelids after specifying their extent.
The times below are general estimates. The length of your appointment and your recovery instructions depend on the treatment area and the protocol selected.
What does the treatment involve?
Xanthelasma is a lipid deposits in the skin, often near the inner corner of the eyelids. Local treatment can remove plaques; it does not treat a possible cholesterol disorder.
Who is this treatment for?
Adults with diagnosed xanthelama. The choice of plasma, laser, chemical treatment or surgery depends on the depth, surface, phototype and state of the eyelids. Thick or extensive lesions may be covered by another method.
How's the session going?
- The doctor examines the plates, eyelids and their closure. A lipid balance can be advised.
- If plasma treatment is chosen, the area is prepared and anaesthetized according to the procedure. Deposits are treated locally.
- Follow-up checks healing. It may be necessary to proceed in several steps rather than deal with the whole surface at once.
How long do you expect?
Time depends on the number and size of plates, often a few tens of minutes, plus anesthesia.
Is it painful?
Anesthetic preparation reduces discomfort. Heat, tingling and local sensitivity are possible.
What is recovery like, and is there any downtime?
Crusts and swelling can be visible for about a week, sometimes more. A redness or a change of colour can last several weeks.
When will I see results?
The result is judged after healing and disappearance of inflammation, usually over several weeks.
How long do the effects last?
A plate can be removed long-term, but xanthélasma may recur in the vicinity or at the same place. The follow-up takes into account the health check and healing.
Before and after your appointment
Do not remove crusts and use only the permitted care near the eyes. Solar protection reduces the risk of stains after treatment.
Precautions to be considered
A scar, stain or eyelid modification is possible. Eye discomfort or poor eye closure should be reported promptly.
