What does the treatment involve?
Lip flip uses a small amount of botulinum toxin to release part of the muscle around the mouth. The treatment of gingival smile is aimed at some muscles that lift the lip. These gestures are different from a volumizing injection into the lips.
Who is this treatment for?
Adults whose upper lip folds into the inside with a smile or goes up excessively for muscle reasons. If the visible gums are linked to the teeth or jaws, a dental check-up may be more appropriate. Skin type is not the main criterion.
How's the session going?
- The doctor observes the smile, the mobility of the lip and the visible part of the gums.
- The dots are chosen according to whether it is a lip flip or a gingival smile, then injected with a thin needle.
- The result is controlled after effect installation, also checking the comfort to talk, drink and eat.
How long do you expect?
The procedure often takes less than 15 minutes, in addition to the examination.
Is it painful?
A few brief bites on a sensitive area. A pinching sensation is possible; anaesthesia is not always necessary.
What is recovery like, and is there any downtime?
Mild redness or bruising is possible; downtime is not usually needed. You may temporarily find it harder to drink through a straw, whistle or pronounce certain sounds.
When will I see results?
The change is gradually seen in the first week and evaluated around 2 weeks.
How long do the effects last?
The lip flip is usually shorter than a fill: often a few months. For the gingival smile, the duration depends on the muscles and protocol chosen.
Before and after your appointment
Avoid rubbing the area immediately after the procedure. Report any significant discomfort to drink or eat instead of waiting for control.
Precautions to be considered
These uses may not be authorised for placing on the market. Excessive asymmetry or weakness of the lip can hinder everyday gestures; the choice of points and doses requires special attention.
