Hair PRP: understanding the procedure and its regulatory context

Understand the course of the plasma rich in platelets for hair, its suites and its framing.

The times below are general estimates. The length of your appointment and your recovery instructions depend on the treatment area and the protocol selected.

What does the treatment involve?

The PRP is prepared from a sample of your own blood. After centrifugation, the platelet-containing fraction is collected and then used in the protocols studied for certain hair falls. This process is different from the skin plasma Plexr.

Who is this treatment for?

Studies focus on some androgenetic alopecia in adults. A sudden hair loss, plaques or inflammatory scalp first require a diagnosis. The presence of still active follicles counts more than age or skin type.

How's the session going?

  1. A scalp balance identifies the cause of the hair loss and compares possible treatments. The medical indication and framework of use are checked.
  2. In a medically retained protocol, blood is taken from the arm and then prepared by centrifugation with suitable material.
  3. The preparation is injected in several points of the scalp. Comparable photographs are used for monitoring.
  4. The protocols studied often include several sessions and then a re-evaluation before deciding on an interview.

How long do you expect?

Approximately 30 to 60 minutes for sampling, preparation and injections according to protocol.

Is it painful?

Piqûre on the arm then repeated injections on the scalp, sometimes sensitive. The means of comfort or anesthesia is chosen with the doctor.

What is recovery like, and is there any downtime?

Sensitivity, red dots or small bruises possible. Most activities can resume quickly; washing, sport and hair care follow the instructions received.

When will I see results?

Hair evolution is measured in months. Clinical studies and follow-ups generally assess hair loss and density over approximately 3 to 6 months, with photographs taken under the same conditions.

How long do the effects last?

This is not a definitive effect: the cause of alopecia continues to act. Possible maintenance depends on diagnosis and evolution, with no duration common to all falls.

Before and after your appointment

Come with the results already done and report the treatments that modify coagulation. Don't interrupt them yourself. Wash instructions are specified for your protocol.

Precautions to be considered

In France, injection of PRP with a single aesthetic aim is prohibited. A scalp project therefore requires the physician to specify its indication and regulatory framework.
